The Louisiana Tech University licensing program began in 2003 to protect, promote, and support the use of Tech’s name and trademarks on products in the marketplace. Protection is provided for in the Louisiana Revised Statute (R. S. 51:224). “No person shall use for any commercial purpose any name, work, symbol, or device or any combination thereof which resembles the official name, symbol, seal, or logo of a public or accredited private educational institution except with the written consent of the public or private educational institution.”
The Division of University Communications is committed to protecting the use of our brand’s image through licensing agreements with The Collegiate Licensing Company. We promote and communicate our University’s brand in relation to goods and services. Strongly defending our brand through licensing protects our University’s reputation and provides scholarship dollars for our students.
Trademarks
Louisiana Tech University has numerous protected trademarks, and any use of a Louisiana Tech trademark requires licensing approval from the Division of University Communications.
If the trademark bears the trademark symbol ®, then it is federally registered. Other protected marks are listed with a TM to designate Louisiana Tech’s ownership. For more information on our registered logos, marks, and names, see the Brand Standards section of this website.
Use of the proper trademark designation symbols in connection with the goods and services associated with Louisiana Tech will assist us in protecting the equity the University has worked to instill in its brand and marks.
